Childbirth and the aging process tend to cause relaxation and sagging of the vulvar structures. For women who wear tight fitted clothes and or are physically active, long labia and a pronounced labia majora may cause physical discomfort and embarrassment. Labiaplasty surgery can reduce the size and shape of the labia majora and the labia minora. Labia majoraplasty is the reduction of the outer labial folds, labia minora surgery is the reduction of the inner labial lips.

Is labiaplasty covered by insurance?
Labiaplasty is a cosmetic procedure and generally not covered by insurance.
How long does the procedure take?
Labiaplasty surgery may take around 3 hours depending on the complexity and possibly longer if multiple procedures are combined.
Labiaplasty Recovery Period
Full recovery means returning to all normal daily activities and intercourse. Labiaplasty recovery will take between 6 to 8 weeks. You may return to normal daily activities and work in a few days, however, no tampons or sex allowed until full recovery.
You will receive comprehensive recovery instructions from Dr. Jill, but labiaplasty recovery does not require you to be bedridden. Pain and swelling are normal and easily managed with medication and icing.
Labiaplasty Costs
The average cost for labia surgery is between $3500 and $6000. A physical consultation will be needed to determine an accurate cost.
Labiaplasty Complications
As with all surgery, complications are possible and include: swelling, infection, hematomas and discomfort. While hematomas are a rare complication, they can occur, but usually resolve themselves in 3 to 4 weeks. Do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jill with any concerns you may have after surgery.
