Botox

Botox is a popular brand of neuromodulator, at this time it is the only neuromodulator offered at Modern Gynecology. The injection of neuromodulators leads to a paralysis of the muscle injected and the prevention of wrinkles overlying that muscle, as well as the smoothing of wrinkles that are already set into the skin at rest. Botox is used to both prevent the formation of wrinkles as well as to treat the most severe wrinkles. A Botox regimen is best started prior to forming set wrinkles, but it is never too late for Botox. Botox should not be injected any more frequently than every 3 months, and is typically used every 3-4 months. It can take up to 14 days for the results from the injection to appear. The amount of toxin injected will be discussed between you and your provider, a more natural appearance allowing appropriate facial movements is the specialty of Dr. Jill.

Fillers

Hyaluronic Acid fillers have been injected into many areas of the face to restore your natural appearance. Fillers are injected into the lips and cheeks to augment volume, injected to the jaw to add definition, around the mouth to smooth out lines and wrinkles, and can be used to smooth out “tech lines” on the neck. These are just a few ways that fillers have been used. Versa is our preferred brand of fillers because it results in less swelling than other brands of filler and a natural appearance post injection. Juvederm brand of fillers is also available.

Kybella

KYBELLA® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells under the chin to eliminate that stubborn “double chin”. The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When concentrated synthetic deoxycholic acid is injected into the fat beneath the chin, it destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal. Multiple vials of Kybella are used during 1 treatment session and in most patients 4-6 treatment sessions are needed.
